Job Overview:

The Production Supervisor will oversee production operations for multiple departments. The position guarantees that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process by supervising and coordinating activities of employees who are manufacturing Quaker products and materials.

The Production Supervisor organizes workflows, coordinates production schedule and activities with support departments. The position also resolves production problems related to methods, tools, fixtures, materials and manpower.

Job Duties Include:

  • Plan, prioritize, execute and monitor a production plan
  • Organize employees and department schedules, Know the backlog
  • Direct efforts of manufacturing staff, ensuring all work is coordinated, downtime is minimized, and products meet established quality standards
  • Provide leadership and direction to all employees.
  • Monitor & manage on-time-complete and drops per labor hour results for production, work with production leads on any improvements
  • Evaluate materials and units produced to maintain company quality standards
  • Understand the inventory process and supply needs for departments in their purview
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities between departments
  • Prepare and submit daily production reports on performance and progress to the Production Manager
  • Review, analyze and identify cost, quality, schedule and inventory variances. Develop and implement corrective actions for negative variances
  • Develop procedures and techniques to reduce process variation and manufacturing delays, while increasing productivity
  • Audit the production line and address efficiency/employee issues with the lead. Work to produce a solution while holding employees accountable
  • Confirm line machinery and tools are clean and function properly.
  • Ensure all operators follow safety policies and protocols
  • Acquire an understanding of the purpose and reporting for Quaker’s Open Book Management initiative. Train production leads and other employees on OBM.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, development, administration of corrective action and evaluation of staff
  • Manage and coach a team of employees. Address employee concerns and complaints in a professional manner. Treat all employees equally
  • Display and promote Quaker’s core values
  • Verify production staff complete all mandatory training.
  • Communicate via email, plan and develop staffing schedules assigning employees to specific duties
  • Complete basic time keeping skills
  • Coordinate daily production activities with other shift managers
  • Fill in as a backup in the Production Manager’s absence.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Oversee the completion of assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of Quaker’s products including parts, vinyl profiles, and aluminum extrusions
  • Proficiency in Quaker’s proprietary software

 

Preferred Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.
 
  • High school diploma or a passed General Education Development test required
  • Associate’s Degree in a relevant field preferred
  • 2 Years Supervisory experience preferred
  • 3 Years Manufacturing experience required

The employee must be able to:
  • regularly lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds;

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The standard work schedule is Monday through Thursday, from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM. Occasional overtime may be required on Fridays for up to 8 hours. Please note that start times may vary, and hours are subject to change based on business needs. Supervisor may be required to report earlier than the scheduled start time as needed.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to climactic variations, fumes or airborne particles, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Various different types of Personal Protective Equipment might be required based on the employee’s work location. The noise level in the work environment may require hearing protection.
